- A car sales manager plays a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of a dealership.
- Responsible for leading the sales team, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining profitable sales figures.
- Forecasts goals and objectives for sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.
- Hires, trains, motivates, counsels, and monitors the performance of all new-vehicle sales employees.
- Understands and complies with regulations affecting new-vehicle sales.
- Directs and schedules activities of all department employees to ensure proper staffing.
- Assists individual salespeople in setting realistic monthly goals and objectives, offering support to meet them.
- Maintains an accurate daily log reflecting all sales activities.
- Develops and monitors a prospecting and sales control system for potential buyers.
- Ensures teamwork and a customer-focused sales environment throughout the process.
- Conducts daily and weekly sales meetings.
- Provides proper training resources for salespeople regularly.
- Oversees sales efforts to improve customer satisfaction and dealership ratings.
- Works with salespeople on programs to increase new-car gross and F&I penetration.
- Helps salespeople close deals when necessary.
- Processes salesperson commission sheets and monitors payroll records.
- Reviews inventory daily to ensure proper mix of grounded stock.
- Assists the used-vehicle department with trade appraisals as needed.
- Directs merchandising and advertising efforts for the new-vehicle department.
- Assists in developing advertising campaigns and other promotions.
- Attends managers meetings as requested.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- A valid driver’s license and a matric certificate.
- Proven track record as a new car manager with four or more years of experience.
- Combination of education and experience is acceptable.
